The directors of BPS; Mathew Revell and Richard Pearce collectively have over 30 years’ experience designing, installing and operating backfill systems globally.
Richard Pearce:
Richard is a focused and dedicated mechanical engineer with a drive to always look for ways to do things better. Graduating with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree (Hons) from the University of Wollongong in 2008 he quickly moved through Toyota as a design engineer and Orica Watercare as a project engineer into the world of mine backfill. He joined forces with Mat Revell at Backfill Specialists in a lead engineering and project management role in 2011.
Over the past 12 years Richard has been pivotal in the success of many backfill systems around the world. Richard took on the role of Technical Director at Backfill Pipeline Solutions (BPS) in 2017 with a solid technical background coupled with a passion for innovation to provide customers with the best solutions in backfill pipeline systems. His knowledge and expertise in the mine backfill area have grown to a world class level with backfill systems being his primary career focus. In addition to his role at BPS, Richard is also the Managing Director of MineFill Services, the sister company to BPS, providing mine backfill consulting and turnkey design and construct services.
Mat Revell:
Mat Revell’s professional passion in life is Mine Backfill. After graduating University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Hons) in 1997, over the ensuing 8 years Mat held operational roles as an operational metallurgist and mine backfill engineer. During this time Mat spent time in base metals and gold operations through all aspects of the process. The major influencing role for his future career was as mine backfill engineer at BHP Cannington. With paste being a new technology Mat cut his teeth on all surface and underground aspects learning and playing a pivotal role in the development of this new technology. Mat established his own business Revell Resources (subsequently renamed Backfill Specialists), focusing on the world of mine backfill. Always using his operational background as the anchor Mat built, commissioned and operated many backfill systems throughout the world and completed hundreds of studies on all types of backfill.
In late 2017 Mat took up a role as a Director in Backfill Pipeline Solutions (BPS). He also joined MineFill Services in 2021 as a Principal Engineer, the sister company to BPS. Between these two companies, he is now able to utilise his extensive knowledge and passion of the backfill industry to provide both standard and innovative new products for the all aspects of mine backfill.
